Court summons : warrant, 1804.

A warrant from the Grand Jury of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to the Sheriff of Nelson County (Ky.), commanding him to summon William Burton before the Circuit Court in Elizabethtown (Hardin County), Ky. Mr Burton was accused of profanely swearing two oaths ("uttering aloud at two different times the words 'By God'") against "the act of Assembly in such cases (?) and the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth of Kentucky." The warrant is signed by Benjamin Helm.
